Thank you for your interest in the services offered by Bukit Raya Tours & Travel. For the sake of mutual understanding and information, we would like to provide you with some general information and explanations.
Travel insurance, health and accident insurance, and any additional insurance are the sole responsibility of the guests. For our heavy duty “out-of-the-box” tours, we recommend checking with your insurance provider to ensure your policy provides sufficient coverage for search and rescue.
Basically, you have to get your Indonesian visit visa in person. On request, we will be happy to advise you and, if necessary, support you. You can apply and purchase and extend your visa online. Please go to offical website: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/
We are located in the West Indonesian time zone WIB like Jakarta and Bangkok
You can buy an Indonesian prepaid SIM card at the airport and register immediately. For longer stays of more than 6 months, you should register your hardware upon entry (IMEI). Occasionally, however, it is cheaper to get a local handphone with prepaid SIM card and connect it to your own devices via hotspot.
In Indonesia, left-hand traffic applies. You are allowed to drive motorcycles, scooters and cars yourself, but you should have an International Driver’s Licence. Any motor vehicles provided or rented by us are operated by our guests at their own risk. Damage and repairs to these motor vehicles must be compensated to us and any legal consequences must be borne by the guests.
We are not liable for the content and offers of tours and excursions offered by third-party providers, including the freelance guides and freelance tour organizers mediated by us.
Heart of Borneo tours take our guests to the end of the civilized world. For this reason, we draw our guests’ attention to special circumstances, which must be taken into account:
Weather: Weather conditions, precipitation, dry seasons, thunderstorms can hardly be predicted, and meteorological forecasts are extremely inaccurate. We will always give the safety and well-being of our guests the highest priority. For this reason, there may be unforeseeable adjustments and changes before or during the tour, which may make adjustments to the program necessary very spontaneously at the moment. Nature with its powers is dominant in any case and humans must usually subordinate themselves to nature with their programs.
Program changes: If adjustments to the program have to be made due to too high or too low water levels, impassable roads, collapsed bridges or other obstacles due to force majeure, we decline any liability for the implementation of the original program. Our guides will always strive to put the safety of our guests and local escorts first. In any case, we will look for attractive program alternatives and discuss them with our guests and local escorts. Decisions of the guide must be followed without restriction in any case.
Requirements: We try to assess each tour offering based on its requirements and regularly review these ratings. Our guests are encouraged to assess their own physical, mental, and emotional abilities and, if necessary, discuss these with us before booking the tour.
Hygiene: On our HoB offers there are hardly any special tourist-friendly facilities such as accommodation with privacy, civilized toilets, electricity supply and internet connection. If someone is sensitive in this regard, this should be discussed with us before the tour is confirmed.
Catering: Basically, we eat and drink like the indigenous population eats and drinks. We always strive to offer hygienically perfect drinking water and hygienically prepared meals. If this is not possible, our guides draw our guests’ attention to difficult circumstances.
Alcohol: We would like to draw the attention of our guests on to a very serious problem in Kalimantan. Excessive alcohol consumption is a major cause of marginalisation of the indigenous communities in Kalimantan. A lot of suffering, especially for women and children is often the consequence of uncontrolled consumption of alcohol. That’s why we do not allow the consumption of any alcoholic drinks during our tours and we do strongly recommend to our guests, to abstain from all kind of alcoholic drinks during their stay in Kalimantan both, in the Guesthouse as well as on Tour. If you like, we can explain you more about this serious issue during your stay in our guesthouse as well as during the tour.
Vegetarianism: The indigenous people of Borneo, the Dayak and Punan, are hunter-gatherers. Fish and meat are expected to be offered daily. However, a vegetarian diet is also available upon request. Out of respect for the indigenous population, however, we expect our guests not to declare a vegetarian lifestyle as dogma and publicly promote it.
Veganism: Guests who want to eat vegan have to look out for their own vegan food and we expect them to accept a non-vegan diet of the indigenous people and other guests without discussion.
Soft-Programs: Are tours that do not ask for specific physical, mental or spiritual demands. However, our guests must be able to sit and sleep on the ground, have minimal balance to balance over a tree trunk, climb a slippery river embankment or fight their way through a thicket in the forest.
Medium-Programs: Are tours with increased physical, mental and spiritual demands. You have to be able to walk for 3 to 5 hours, endure in heat and/or wetness and be prepared to stubbornly pursue and endure the desired goal after a “point of no return”. Under certain circumstances, the cancellation of such a tour is not easy to achieve. The tropical rainforest can then also become a “Green Hell”.
Heavy-Programs: Tours are exclusively for physically and mentally very stable guests. Bringing survival skills is expected as a basic requirement. Our guests must be able to endure and hold out for several days without access to civilization.
