Special Request Tourism – Tourism that does not destroy local customs

We have been living in the jungles of Borneo for 30 years. We travel a lot, we do community development, we support the education system in the most remote parts of Central Kalimantan, and in doing ecotourism outside of the box, we are always with people. With our guests but especially with the indigenous people of Kalimantan, the Punan and Dayak. These people have lived in the jungle for generations. People in transition between tradition and modernity.

For these people to survive, they must utilize the forest’s natural resources. And in general, they are very good at it!

The indigenous Dayak are hunters and gatherers, traits that we Westerners have long since forgotten.

That’s why we are open to inquiries from people with special requests.

Hunting:   The Dayak hunt with air rifles, homemade muzzleloaders, dogs, spears, a few still use blowguns, and they set traps.

Fishing:  The Dayak fish with rods and nets, sometimes by stunning the fish in a small tributary with natural poison to make them rise to the surface.

Gold:   We have a lot of gold here. The problem is that gold dust is widely distributed in the river sediments and floodplains. The Dayak have their own traditional way of finding gold. Not only can you observe it everywhere, but if you want, you can even join in for a few weeks!

Agarwood:   Agarwood is a tree that, when injured and infected with a certain fungus, produces an extraordinarily fragrant resin. This resin is, understandably, highly sought after in the perfume market. Dayak, and especially the Punan, are specialists in the search for agarwood. You can join such an expedition and spend several weeks wandering through the jungle searching for this wood.

Ornithology:   You don’t have to be a fortune teller to guess how many different and exotic birds there are in the jungle. Villa Corona is the perfect place to observe, listen to, and document birds.

Practice survival:   Traveling with the Dayak people, you can learn how to survive in the jungle, even if you don’t have specialized Western equipment.

Rock Climbing:    You may still find some needles sticking out of the forests to climb up. Feel free to get in contact with us, we can offer you the support and logistics to make expeditions possible

We can tailor programs for you on all of these topics. With us as your tour organizer, you’ll gain access to places and villages you could never reach as a tourist.
