A beautiful and cozy tour with more than just a drive to the orangutans and back!
Bukit Raya Tours & Travel offers a unique little experience just outside the city.

On the first day, we start our tour after breakfast with a roughly 45-minute drive to the Kahui Project – a small but charming local initiative promoting eco-friendly tourism.

A light forest surrounds a small stream, its water crystal-clear with a deep reddish tint, gently flowing between the trees. It’s the perfect spot for a refreshing swim and a relaxing siesta in a hammock by the water during the tropical midday heat.

In the afternoon, you’ll have the chance to visit a small agroforestry project and start setting up camp for the night at a cozy bivouac site. As evening falls, we gather around a campfire, enjoy some laid-back conversation, and perhaps even cook dinner over the flames.

Before heading to the sleeping bag, there’s the option of a short night walk, where – with a bit of luck – you might spot some nocturnal wildlife such as frogs, toads, civets, owls, or other creatures of the night.

We’ll be sleeping in tents, which can also be set up inside small triangular huts in case of heavy rain. So yes – camping, without the risk!

On the second day, after breakfast, we hop into inflatable canoes for a relaxed paddle down the stream. Before long, we’ll reach the larger Rungan River, and soon after that – Pulau Kaja, the island where you can observe orangutans in their natural habitat.

After about 2 to 3 hours on the river, we arrive at the village of Sei Gohong, where our car will be waiting. It’s just a short 15-minute drive to Ernngarden25 Café & Billiards – a charming spot surrounded by orchids and vibrant flowers. Here, you can enjoy a light meal, sip on a cold drink, play a round of billiards, or simply explore the surroundings. This is a perfect place for a powernap!

In the mid-afternoon, we head back to Palangka Raya. On request, we can also make a stop at the local Dayak Museum. The tour ends back at the Bukit Raya Guesthouse.

This tour can be extended by a second night camping at Ernngarden25 Cafe&Billiard and at the thired day with Biking and Hiking in Tangkiling Hills. Just ask our Customer Relation, Rizal Jan for more details and special arrangments.

We provide tents, drybag backpack for your personal belongings, water shoes on request, mosquitonet, small thin sleeping mats, canoe equipment with lifewest and helmet.
